FPI has developed an ambitious Rural and Urban Agriculture Innovative Production Program (RUAIPP)

​

The RUAIPP is our flagship initiative, designed to transition rural and urban smallholder farmers from subsistence to commercial farming. The transformative program focuses on the following:

1. A Community-Centric : We believe in building empowered communities and fostering sustainable community development and economic empowerment through strategic investments in agriculture and rural initiatives, and empowering local landowners and beneficiaries to become active participants in the agriculture value chain. This approach nurtures thriving local economies, strengthens the bonds between rural producers and urban markets, and provides meaningful opportunities for youth and women to contribute to the growth of their communities. Our work is guided by a steadfast belief in the transformative power of community-driven development.

2. Agriculture Consultancy: FPI's Agriculture Consultancy  supports farmers, agribusinesses, and food producers worldwide. The program’s team of experts provides innovative, data-driven solutions to optimize crop productivity, implement sustainable practices, and improve overall profitability across the agricultural sector. With a focus on emerging markets, FPI empowers smallholder farmers through tailored advisory and training programs, while also delivering localized expertise through regional offices across Africa and Asia and its research and development Global HQ in the USA. FPI is committed to advancing food security and environmental stewardship, and its consultancy department is at the forefront of transforming the global agriculture industry.

3. Agriculture-Based Cluster Development: This is FPI’s cornerstone strategy that involves creating synergies between farmers, investors, funding partners, donors, the government, and other players in farming and industrial cluster development as a means of building capacity for smallholder farmers to enhance productivity and gain access to local, regional, and international markets. This approach gives power to these farmers to collectively negotiate better terms with financiers, suppliers, and buyers, ensuring a steady supply of inputs and a reliable market for their produce.

4. Self-Help Microfinance Credit Schemes:  To solve the issue of farming financing, (FPI) runs a Financial Inclusion Program through providing training on self-help microfinance to smallholder farmers. The goal of this training is to empower these farmers to invest small amounts of what they have in their farms, purchase necessary inputs, and ultimately improve their overall livelihoods. 5. ​Training and Capacity Building: FPI provides comprehensive training in farm management, gender empowerment, and technology integration. This equips farmers with the skills needed to improve their productivity and connect more effectively with suppliers and markets.

Creation of Front and Backward Linkages: FPI's initiative promotes the growth of high-value crops like potatoes, rice, wheat, sunflower, and Moringa and develops comprehensive value chains that seamlessly connect farmers with suppliers and markets. This allows farmers to adopt best practices, access lucrative markets, and receive fair prices for their produce, ultimately improving their livelihoods. This holistic approach optimizes every stage of the supply chain, from efficient production and processing to effective distribution, ensuring maximum benefit for the farmers. Furthermore,

Sustainable Practices: It implements climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable farming techniques, where they learn about farm planning, set-up and management, soil types, water types and management, helping farmers maintain productivity and marketability in the face of environmental challenges.
